Every year scammers earn millions of
dollars, by exploiting people’s emotions and ignorance, today we came up with
the most common and frequent ways that scammers use to scam your credit card
information and your online accounts.
1. Phishing
Starting with phishing, you might receive
an email that looks like it is sent from your bank, PayPal or Microsoft,
telling you that your account had an unrecognized connection session and you
must change your information as soon as possible before its late, they ask to
login to your account through a link they send to you or a login button, once
you enter your sensitive data, the scammer receives them. So to avoid this
always check the sender and the domain name of that website or use best paid
antiviruses so they detect and stops you from accessing those website and
emails.
2. Nigerian Scams
This is one of the popular scams, mostly
you receive a random message or email, and it looks professional and they can
use some names of your family members to sounds trusty, claiming that your long
last relative, has left you a big amount of money, and you are the only one on
his will, and all they need is your banking information to sends you the money,
or in some cases they tell you to pay the transfer fees first or maybe using
different story like, you won on the lottery.
3. Fake Shopping Websites
You maybe surfing the web till you get
directed to a website or a pop-up shows up, it encourage you to buy a cheap
product with just a few cents or dollars, most of them are pharmacies, scammers
may create a professional looking websites just to make you trust them then
they stole your credit card info's.
You may receive an email from a random
person telling you a sad story and asking you for help or a fake organization
telling you to give a donation, those are scammers they send tons of emails to
different people around the world.
5. Fake Support
Sometimes people face issues with their
credit card or their financial companies, so they try to contact the support to
solve the issue, so while browsing the web to find the support they may get a
fake number, Skype , email, so once they contact them they ask people to send
their sensitive data.
6. viruses
While browsing, you may have seen pop-ups
to download a software, most of the time it comes like this “Your computer is
infected download this antivirus to solve the problem”, once you download that
file, your computer become infected and then they start spying or collecting
your data while logging in to your accounts.
7. Survey from scammers
You may receive an email, or a pop-up,
telling you that you won a phone, gift-card or a price and to claim it you have
fill the survey with your real info's so they can ship it to you, guess what? Scammers use that way to use your info's to resell it or to use it to
fake their identity while scamming others so be aware.
8. Public and shared WiFi
While enjoying your meal or drinking your
coffee, you may use the restaurant’s WiFi, Ok everything seems normal…
Did you know that you may risk with your sensitive data, there is a high
chance that a hacker or a scammer is connected to that WiFi and sees it
activities, and waiting for you to enter your passwords, or your sensitive
data, well we highly recommend to not use any shared WiFi or at least do not
login or enter your data while using it.
9. Blackmail
You could receive an email from a random
person threatening you, with many fake scenarios mostly like, they installed malware's and spywares without your knowledge, and they recorded you, so they
take advantage and threaten you to send funds with crypto-currencies like
Bitcoin or they will share your videos, all this is fake if you received a
message like this one just delete it and move on.
10. Ransomware
You want to get paid software's or content
for free? Well they got you, in most cases scammers and hackers include a smart
type of viruses it is called a ransomware in that file, once you download it
all your files becomes encrypted, and to get them back, you have to send them
funds.
