As we all know Elon Musk's Space X mission is to get to Mars and build a mars colony there for humans to live in. But recently, Elon launched his falcon 9 rocket with a payload of 60 Starlink satellites. While it is a very interesting project to make a space based internet communication system, But can this system be reliable enough to help the future of Space X missions ?
Star link is set to build an internet communications system by building and deploying 12,000 starlink satellites in very low Earth orbit. Starlinks will save about 30% to 50% latency and that's because the speed of light in space is faster than the speed of light in fiber optic cables and that is the key advantage of Space X starlink satellites which will allow it to be the backbone of any future connection system, which makes Starlink more likely to support direct TV as well.It is predicted that Starlink will provide about 50$ Billion dollar per year in revenue, this revenue is more than double NASA's annual budget.
Although Starlink's 12000 satellites might present a difficulty deploying future space exploration missions, But with it's projected revenue, Elon musk is more likely to be closer to making his dream of conquering Mars a reality !
